Dokumentarfilm über den in Florenz betriebenen "Calcio Storico", eine mittelalterliche, recht brutale und mit hartem Körpereinsatz arbeitende Variante des Fußballs. Bei einem großen Turnier kämpfen vier Mannschaften der historischen Stadtviertel gegeneinander. In diesen Teams vermischen sich die sozialen Schichten wie zu keinem anderen Anlass. Der Film bietet Einblick in dieses archaische "Männlichkeitsritual" und stellt einige Protagonisten vor.

Seit dem Tod seiner Frau hat Pfarrer Tomas Ericsson auch den Glauben an Gott und die Fähigkeit zu lieben verloren. Emotionslos und ohne Überzeugung absolviert er seine Gottesdienste in der kleinen Dorfkirche. Auch für die Lehrerin Märta, die ihn mit ihrer Liebe bedrängt, findet er keine Gefühle. Als kurze Zeit später die Leiche des Fischers gefunden wird, steht Tomas vor den Trümmern seines Glaubens.

Der Abend im Hause der Nobiles scheint sich normal zu entwickeln. Die Hausangestellten bereiten alles für die vornehme Gesellschaft vor, die im herrschaftlichen Ambiente der Villa luxuriös zu Tafeln gedenkt. Doch Merkwürdigerweise verlassen gegen ihre sonstige Gewohnheit sämtliche Bediensteten außer dem Butler noch vor dem Beginn des Festes ihre Arbeitsstätte. Trotzdem entwickelt sich der Abend normal, bis die ersten Gäste tief in der Nacht müde geworden nach Hause gehen wollen. Aber so recht kann sich Niemand dazu entschließen und so betten sich alle auf den zahlreichen Sitzgelegenheiten zur Ruhe. Doch am Morgen müssen sie feststellen, dass es weder Frühstück gibt, noch das sie in der Lage sind, den Salon zu verlassen...

Indrajeet lodges a complaint with the police but instead of arresting the assailants the police commissioner closes the case forcing Indrajeet to take the law into his hands.
