Danach versucht er mit Arbeit sich über die Runden zu halten. Doch das Leben auf der Straße ist rau und hart. Er lernt den jungen Enko kennen, der als Straßendieb eine Bande anführt. Er schließt sich denen an und lernt dabei auch ein Mädchen Namens Katsuko kennen, die ein hartes Schicksal hinter sich hat. Doch sie ist ja da nicht die Einzige, die so ein grausames Schicksal hat. Zusammen versuchen sie sich durchzuschlagen, um eine neue Bleibe zu errichten, um auch dauerhaft ans Essen zu kommen.
