A story about a family that prides itself in its traditions. All the men have married thrice, since their first and second wives were not capable of giving birth. Die Handlung von Boͤsterreich ist nicht linear, sondern episodisch angelegt. Kurze Szenen in Sketchform sind lose durch die Protagonisten miteinander verbunden. Einige Personen kehren dabei regelmäßig wieder, andere sind nur einmalig zu sehen. Die Palette der dargestellten Figuren reicht von Obdachlosen über Arbeiter, Angestellte und Akademiker bis hin zu einem Minister. Die Story selbst verläuft dabei nicht chronologisch, doch am Beginn jeder Episode gibt es einen kurzen Rückblick auf das vergangene und eine Vorschau auf das kommende Geschehen. Die Serie spielt hauptsächlich in der österreichischen Bundeshauptstadt Wien, auch wenn diese nicht als solche direkt gekennzeichnet ist. Eine komplette Episode ist in Tirol situiert (Folge 5), Teile von einigen anderen Episoden spielen in einer namenlosen österreichischen Provinz. Viele Szenen mit bösartigen Figuren, zum Beispiel einer sadistischen Tierärztin, enthalten schwarzen Humor.

The Slammer is a children's talent show that has been broadcasting on BBC One since 22 September 2006. Set in a fictional prison called HM Slammer, this programme follows a variety show format where “prisoners” compete, by performing to an audience, who decide which act should be released. The show is produced by Steve Ryde, who also produced CBBC's Dick and Dom in da Bungalow and Harry Batt. It was based on an item from Dick and Dom called 'The Strangely Talented': a game in which contestants performed their specialised acts in front of the Bungalow Heads to try to win the title of Strangely Talented Champion. The supporting cast of Dick and Dom in da Bungalow all appear in The Slammer. They are Dave Chapman, Ian Kirkby, Lee Barnett and Melvin Odoom.
